In the basin

Pinyon shows up with juniper toward Pioneertown, Pipes Canyon, and the park’s west high country. Needles come one to a bundle — the field mark that separates it from two-needle pines. It is a woodland tree, not a yard pine for a hot pad on the highway strip. Wikipedia and Calflora have the range.
