In the basin

Western honey mesquite is the usual planted and wash tree; screwbean (Prosopis pubescens) shows in hotter channels. Names are moving — Calflora currently files the honey mesquite as Neltuma odorata. Both host desert mistletoe. Thorns and surface roots are the yard facts; leave wild wash trees in the channel. Wikipedia and Calflora have the split.
